Some say the café only appears when your heart calls out for something you didn’t even know you needed. A sanctuary between pages, time, and memory. A magical café hidden within a living library.

Our Librarians aren’t bound by the rules of this world. Some embody the genres of your favorite stories, others wish to share their own unique narratives to our lovely readers.

Toshokan is whatever you make of it, each Aidokusha-sama will have a personalized experience that the Librarians contribute their magic to!

What is an

Aidokusha-sama?

Aidokusha-sama is Japanese for Beloved Reader.

At Toshokan, every guest is part of our story.

Is Toshokan Café appearing at an event near you? Make sure to pre-register and reserve your table to ensure you get the most out of your café experience!

Guests who pre-register for their Toshokan table have the chance to win prizes that are available for pick-up at their event!

Additionally, for every 45 minute full session reserved, guests will receive one free polaroid cheki with their purchase!

Reservation Options:

Pre-Register

  • FREE With Social Media Follow-

    Designed for a more casual visit and is best for passerbys on the day of the event. Interactions will be limited and due to their brief stay, some Wanderers may miss performances.

  • $10 Entry Fee

    A cozier experience. Page Turner interactions include smaller, quicker table based games. Page Turners have the potential to catch a performance, but it is not guaranteed.

  • $20 Entry Fee

    Full session stay with a free one shot or two shot cheki with entry! The StoryKeeper has the most interactive librarian experience as well as the guarantee of seeing a performance!

  • All guests must follow the Guest Code Of Conduct:

    • Treat all staff with respect.

      • No flirting, touching, or language that could make anyone uncomfortable.

      • Keep comments appropriate.

      • Have fun, play along, but remember: we’re people too.

    • Don’t ask for personal information.

      • Our Librarians only exist here at Toshokan. No social handles, outside names, or phone numbers will be shared.

    • Follow time limits and Space Rules.

      • Sessions are structured to ensure everyone enjoys their stay and is attended to. Please respect transition periods and performance times.

      • Don’t enter restricted areas, interrupt ongoing tables, or wander where you’re not meant to be.

    • If you feel uncomfortable, tell us.

      • Find a Floater or Head Librarian at any time—we’ll fix things quietly and quickly.

  • If staffing allows, we’d love to match you with your favorite Librarian. To increase your chances of sitting with a specific Librarian, please pre-register so we may plan accordingly.

  • Depending on the event- Yes! It is possible to extend your time, simply ask the Librarian who checked you in or at the front of the cafe.

  • We’d be so honored! Penlights are always welcome and encouraged! If you’d like to bring a gift, please let us know when you arrive- we want to make sure all gifts are appropriate!

  • Head Maid Nova is always available to address concerns. In the rare event she is not, please share your concern with an available Librarian so that we are aware of the concern ASAP.

  • Librarians will guide guests through games, tabletop, boardgames, card games etc. They will also chat and socialize with you! Some Librarians even have crafts they wish to do with guests- all activities vary from Librarian to Librarian.

  • Some Librarians love to perform! You may even catch your favorite performing at an event.
